26th June is celebrated world wide as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The day was also celebrated in different facilities of Shafa Home, all over northern India, with great fanfare and joy. The best part of our celebration was that every arrangement related to this event, right from conceptualizing, planning, arranging, implementation and the final presentation was done exclusively by our residents. This was a great achievement. They left no stone unturned to make this event memorable for everyone who participated. For them it was like a new challenge to get back into the mainstream of the society; and to show their capabilities and skills. Their precision and quality of work can be judged by seeing the photographs enclosed.
On this occasion few recovering alcoholics and addicts shared their past experiences and chalked out a road to recovery for others to follow.
The evening ended with a colorful dance drama depicting the life cycle of an addict.
